Microneedling

(Collagen Induction Therapy)

Uncover your best skin

Microneedling (also known as collagen induction therapy) uses a sterile needle device to make "microinjuries" at a controlled depth on the skin. The idea is that these microinjuries induce a healing response that promotes the fibroblast cells to produce more collagen and elastin resulting in firming and tightening of the skin. Other results include a reduction in scars (especially acne scars), pore size, and stretch marks.

Skin needling treatments are performed in a safe and precise manner with a sterile needlehead and are normally completed within 60-100 minutes, depending on the selected area.

While multiple sessions are typically recommended to achieve optimal results depending on your specific goals, noticeable changes can be seen just one week after treatment and gradually improve as the body’s healing process begins to take effect. Side effects are similar to a mild sunburn, such as redness, tenderness, and some swelling.

Treatments

Hitting reset on your skin can be as simple as a 30-minute microneedling treatment. SkinPen creates micro-channels (microscopic holes) at a rate of 1600 per second. These wounds stimulate your skin, kicking its healing process into high gear. In a clinical study, 90% of patients said they would recommend SkinPen.

  • Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is microneedling painful?

I use topical numbing cream before the treatment. So discomfort should be minimal. However, if you’ve had trouble with numbing agents in the past (such as numbing for dental work) please let me know in advance.

  • How long will it take to heal?

Most clients will take 4-5 days for their skin to go back to “normal”. Immediately following the treatment, your skin will appear flushed, and you will want to avoid wearing make-up or other topical products for a few hours to a day. Your skin is extremely porous following the procedure and you want to make sure that you aren’t applying anything abrasive or harmful to the skin at this time.

  • What skin color / type is best for microneedling?

Any and all! Microneedling is safe to use on all skin types and colors without risk of post-inflammatory hyper-pigmentation.

  • Can I microneedle if I have botox or fillers?

Yes! I recommend waiting 1 week after botox and 2 weeks after fillers.

  • How long until I see results?

I typically recommend a series of 3-6 treatments, with 4 weeks in between each treatment. Final results typically take a 6 months as the skin produces more collagen and elastin.

  • Are there any contraindications?

Microneedling is safe for most people. However, people who have active skin cancer in the treatment area(s), have open wounds, sores, or irritated skin in the treatment area(s), have an allergy to stainless steel or anesthetics, have a hemorrhagic (bleeding) disorder or hemostatic (bleeding) dysfunction, are pregnant or nursing, are currently taking drugs with the ingredient isotretinoin (such as Accutane) should not be microneedled.

Add-On Services

  • $35 (30 mins)- Dermaplaning: This is a painless treatment that’s a suitable exfoliation alternative for sensitive skin. Using a sterile surgical blade, I remove the dead skin, clogged pores and peach fuzz from your face leaving vibrant, glowing skin!

  • $35 (30 mins)- Celluma Light Therapy: The energy delivered by the LEDs has been shown to enhance cellular metabolism, accelerate the repair and replenishment of damaged skin cells, as well as stimulate the production of collagen — the foundation of healthy, smooth skin. Research has shown that LED light therapy may help smooth skin texture, improve skin firmness and resilience, increase lymphatic system activity, restore skin’s natural cellular activity, and reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and superficial hyperpigmentation. The treatment is for all skin types, and is non-ablative, non-invasive, painless, and requires absolutely no downtime.

  • $10- High Frequency: Treat and prevent stubborn acne, shrink enlarged pores, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, decongest puffy eyes, fade dark eye circles. During the high frequency treatment, enriched oxygen molecules are produced that create an anti-bacterial action and a "natural" thermal tissue warming. This reaction helps your blood vessels push away toxins, while the cells in your skin are enriched with nutrients and hydrating volume. This in turn creates an increase in blood circulation and cell renewal that supports increased levels of collagen and elastin.

  • $20 (15 mins)- Extractions: This is a great add-on for services that don't include exactions such as the Dermaplane Stand-Alone, Microneelding or Chemical Peels.
